NMMC HEALTH PROGRAMME
- Plastic and E-Waste Recyclothon: On October 24, 2025, the NMMC, in collaboration with Project Mumbai and Mindspace REIT, launched a massive “Navi Mumbai Plastic and E-Waste Recyclothon”. This city-wide initiative aimed to encourage responsible waste management and promote a circular economy by engaging nearly 2 lakh citizens across over 200 locations. The initiative included a symbolic “Shred the Evil of a Plastic Ravan” event on Dussehra (October 2) to raise awareness about plastic pollution.
- Healthcare Infrastructure: The NMMC invited bids for the construction of a new ₹250 crore super-specialty hospital in Sector 15A, CBD Belapur, to enhance local healthcare services. The bid submission deadline was set for October 28, 2025.
- Public Health Campaigns:
- The civic body rolled out a comprehensive pulse polio campaign across the city on October 10, 2025, utilizing 721 vaccination booths.
- Vigilance was stepped up to ensure a safe drinking water supply across the city.
- Cultural and Educational Initiatives: NMMC celebrated Classical Marathi Language Week from October 3 to 9, 2025, to mark the declaration of Marathi as a classical language. The week featured lectures, a question and answer competition, and a poetry recitation event.
- Administrative and Regulatory Updates:
- The new property transfer fee policy, which aimed to boost transparency and align with RBI lending rates for late fees, came into effect on October 1, 2025.
- The State Election Commission’s directive, issued on October 9, 2025, mandated prior approval from the NMMC’s Media Certification and Monitoring Committee for all election advertisements on electronic media ahead of the upcoming general elections.
